CAMEL AND HORSE SAFARIS

camel safariKenya’s varying landscape and wild countryside make it an ideal platform to run Camel Trips. These are mainly based in the semi arid region around Shaba/ Meru National park. What better way to epitomize the early explorers than saddling up on camel and allowing the local guides to lead you through their land. Why go by camel you may ask?

There is nothing more romantic than the slow rhythmic movement of a camel gliding along effortlessly while you watch the landscape change beneath you. From dry plains to huge rocky outcrops, vital rivers to old craters where salt is mined by hand and brought out by donkey. There are no roads where we traverse and after a hot day, what better than to settle into your camp with a cold drink and wonder at the sheer vastness of the African sky.

Everything has to be transported by camel and so the camp will come with you and pitch where you decide to stop. This is a true adventure and you will need to be relatively fit. We have a number of different itineraries to suit your requirements.

As well as camels, we can offer horse riding safaris. This is loosely based on the same concept as camels except there is probably more riding than walking. We have two itineraries for this which cover the Laikipia plateau and the Maasai region of the Chyulu’s.

Please bear in mind that our normal camel/ horse back safari’s last 10-12 days. If however you only want a few days of riding or even longer, the choice is yours.
